3. Presidents Report
Class is doing well in NSW, numbers are increasing with growth at Woollahra, and at Lake Macquarie. Belmont not accepting of Moth fleet, so local sailors are looking for a club. Any help from the association has been offered to help find a “Moth friendly” club on the lake. Toronto A.S.C. was suggested as a possible option during talks to M. Crockett who has been actively sailing with a small group from the Belmont Yacht Club. Congratulations to Nathan Outteridge for winning the Moth Europeans and Scott Babbage on a 3rd place.

Rego Procedure
I have edited the registration page to reflect current practice. This may save some confusion.
NSW 2010 Titles
Thirty Eight moths entered and the weather gods co-operated with moderate S and SE winds. Only one race ended in a typical easter drift off, but we got results for all heats thanks the the moth class lap count scoring system. Plenty of new people in the class.
Nathan Outteridge dominated taking 6 1st one 2nd and a dnf. Other winners were John Harris (2008 WC) and Dave Lister who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Nine Mach2s participated but did not dominate, Lister’s home built, plus Prowlers of Ben Croker and Andrew Stevenson making the top 10. Plenty of hard luck stories esp Scott Babbage. He can explain.
Blemont 16s put on a great event and most stayed on at the club for dinner and evening drinks. What a venue, and some of Australias Best sailing water.
Its Nathan’s local patch and he will be hard to beat come January.
Results (subject to some checking):
1. Nathan Outteridge 1,1,2,1,1,1,1,dnf, 8
2. John Harris 3,2,1,5,3,2,6,2 18.

2010 NSW Moth States – Full Results
NSW titles
Entries approaching 30 with good southerly winds forcast. Should be a good regatta at Belmont. Report to follow after next three days of racing.
Are Foiling Moths aircraft? CASA thinks so.
In a decision that borders on the ridiculous, The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has followed a literal interpretation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) definition of an ‘aircraft’ as stated in Chapter 1 of Annex 7.
New Constitution
At the Jan 2010 Perth Nationals the AGM approved the revision to the Aust Constitution as circulated to all states from november. There was little contentious in the revsion, mostly updating the way the class operates this century and removing some of the beaurocracy built up over the long history of the class. We will continue to operate just as we have done for many years except that now we will be doing in to the letter of the consitution, rather than in conflict with it.
If I can work out how to load the full document somewhere on this site I will do so. In the mean time each state committee has a copy or I can email it to any members who have a need.
Phil Stevenson, National Secretary.

Nationals Results Belatedly
Maybe late but it had to be recorded. AMAC of course won the 2010 South of Perth Nationals convincingly with a big string of wins. The Mach2 proved to have the edge on all other boats present. Second was Andrew Stevenson on a 2003 vintage Prowler followed by Luka Damic on a Zero and Brent Pearson on a Bladerider X8. Only 15 boats competed. 5 from WA, 2 from Qld, 1 from Vic and 7 from NSW.
NSW States Notice of Race & Entry Form
The Notice of Race and Entry Form for the 2010 NSW State Championships are available.
Belmont 16′ Sailing Club will host the event over the Easter weekend from the 2nd – 4th April 2010.
McDougall stretches his lead after 12 races
Andrew McDougall won another three races from three starts on Day 4 of the Moth National Championships conducted by South of Perth Yacht Club on the Swan River in Perth.
Races 10, 11 and 12 were run in a fresh sea breeze on Melville Water West today and gave Andrew McDougall the opportunity to re-assert his authority on the series after a disappointing day yesterday, when a faulty wand forced him back to third place in each of the three races.
With the boat running well today, McDougall was unstoppable, storming to the front in the first leg of each race and going away on each of the downwind legs. ‘Our foil set up is different from the other boats’, McDougall claimed today, ‘and gives us better downwind performance.’
On the water the dominance of McDougall’s boat was emphatic. His nearest rival was well behind and in each of the last two races he lapped the tailenders.
Luka Damic continued his good form today with two seconds and a third, but struggled at times as the wind increased to finish fourth behind Andrew Stevenson and Brent Pearson.
Tomorrow’s final races are scheduled for the morning and are likely to be run in light air.
