The 2011/2012 KA Sail Victorian Moth Grand Prix began with Round 1 sailed in very light conditions at McRae Yacht Club.  With a good turn out Andrew McDougall dominated in the light conditions, foiling well before anyone else in the fleet, allowing him to extend his lead early and never threathened.  Richard Jackson came through for second and Leigh Dunstan third.

Round 2 was sailed at Mornington Yacht Club in conditions that can only be described as challenging, with winds gusting to 30 knots and waves that Moths don't to agree with.  As the fleet left for the course it became clear that it was unsailable and the race committee kindly set another course in the shelter of the club.  Racing was close with Leigh Dunstan winning the day, from Richard Jackson and Andrew McDougall finishing third.

Round 3 was sailed at Sorrento Couta Sailing Boat Club in fantastic conditions, with winds averaging 10-15 knots.  As the last round prior to the National Titles racing was very close with Andrew McDougal taking the win, from Richard Jackson and Leigh Dunstan in thrid place.

Round 4 was the 2012 KA Sail Victorian State Titles and was sailed at Sorrento once again.  This round was the only round that competitors could not drop, so the pressure was on.  Day one was sailed in picture perfect conditions with 12-18 knots and flat water.  Racing was tight and James Owen-Smith finished day one in the lead.  Day two of racing saw Andrew McDougall step up and show his dominance to the rest of the fleet in the 15-20 knot breeze.  Andrew finished in first overall with James Owen-Smith edging out Richard Jackson for second.

Round 5 was due to be sailed at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron, however no results were achieved due to the horrendous conditions.  Kohei, Richard, Leigh and Kyle all made it out to the course, however none of the boats were able to get past the first top mark in conditions gusting to 30 knots.

Round 6 was sailed as part of the Black Rock Skiff Regatta.  The conditions on Day one were light and variable with the series biggest improver Kohei Kajimoto winning his first race of the series in race one.  Day two saw testing conditions and although the entire fleet started the race Kohei again showed his continued improvement by winning the race and that round of the Grand Prix.

Andrew McDougall won the 2011/12 KA Sail Victorian Moth Grand Prix Series from Richard Jackson and Kohei Kajimoto in third overall.  On behalf of the Victorian Moth Association we would like to thank KA Sail for supporting the event by providing prizes for the State Titles and an MSL13.2 to be drawn on the 3rd of May.
